Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra Auditions

The Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra was established in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, in 1918. Today the orchestra has a roster of 68 musicians.

The orchestra rehearses weekly on Tuesday evenings from 7:00pm to 10:00pm at the Stefanie H. Weill Center for the Performing Arts. They perform a five concert series, holiday concert, annual children's concert and summer pops concert each year.

We are currently auditioning for PERMANENT section players for  Viola, Cello, and Flute/Piccolo.

Viola:
A solo of your choice.
Shostakovich: Symphony No. 5, Movement I (rehearsal numbers 15-17)
Mozart: Symphony No. 35, Movement 4 (opening till rehearsal A [m1-37])

Cello:
A solo of your choice.
Beethoven: Symphony No. 5, Movement II (beginning to m. 10;and m. 49-59)
Elgar: Enigma Variations, Variation XII, tutti celli part (figure 52-55).

Piccolo:
Tschaikovsky: Symphony No. 4, Movement IV (m. 249-end)

Sousa: Stars & Stripes Forever (m. 95-end)

Flute: 
A solo of your choice:
Mendelssohn: Scherzo from A Midsummer Night's Dream (letter P-end)
Brahms: Symphony No. 4 in E minor, Movement IV (m. 97-105)
Debussy: Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun (beginning to rehearsal 3)

Principal Horn:
A solo of your choice.

You should have a solo piece of your choice prepared for the audition, as well as the excerpts indicated above.
