Christina & Michelle Naughton

Christina and Michelle Naughton began their piano studies at the age of four, and are currently in their freshmen year at the Curtis Institute of Music.  They have each performed with the Madison Symphony, the Ars Viva Orchestra and Park Ridge Symphony of Chicago, on Chicago’s WFMT radio station, on the Music in the Loft concert series, on Chicago’s Pianoforte Classical Piano Series, and were featured on a Comcast Television special.

Christina made her orchestral debut with the Madison Symphony at the age of nine. In 2002 she won the Chicago Steinway Society’s “Most Promising Pianist” competition. She performed with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra in 2004 as the winner of their concerto competition and Lewis Crosby scholarship.  In 2005 Christina was the only American finalist and was awarded the bronze medal at the Gina Bachauer International Young Artist Competition.  As the pianist of the Vesta Trio, she won the gold medal in the 2007 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. In 2006, Christina performed with the Fort Collins Symphony Orchestra and the Utah Symphony Orchestra. 

Michelle Naughton made her orchestral debut with the Madison Symphony at the age of ten. In 2001, Michelle performed with the Midwest Young Artist Orchestra as the overall winner of the Walgreen’s Concerto Competition. She was also the winner of Chicago Steinway Society’s “Most Promising Pianist” competition in 2003. Michelle was the first prize- winner of the 2005 Virginia Waring International Piano Competition in Palm Desert, California.  She was also the Artist in Residence with the Gulf Coast Symphony in 2005.  In 2006, Michelle performed the inaugural concert at the Rancho Mirage Public Library, performed at St. John’s Cathedral in Denver, Colorado, and was the grand prize winner of the PianoArts Biennial National Piano Concerto and Solo Competition.  She also performed with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra in 2006.

The Naughton sisters also enjoy performing two-piano music. In 2005, they performed with Cleveland’s Red Orchestra. They were re-engaged to play with the Park Ridge Orchestra in 2006, performing Mozart’s Concerto in E flat for two pianos and Poulenc’s concerto for two pianos. In 2006, they gave duo piano recitals in San Francisco, Chicago, and Palm Springs, and in 2007, their duo piano recital was broadcast on Chicago’s WFMT radio station.  In the 2007-2008 season, the Naughton sisters will be performing on the Artist Series of Sarasota, with the Erie Philharmonic, and on the San Francisco Chamber Music Society Series.
