Pianist Rich Ridenour, along with his son, trumpeter and arranger, Brandon Ridenour, will conduct a Master Class on Friday, November 15th at 4:00 pm at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center. The pianist and trumpeter will offer a class for piano and instrumental soloists collaborating as a team. The Ridenours will provide tips and best practices to help them use their talents together to achieve the best performances possible. The pair will also spend time working with soloists and accompanists separately focused on their specific musical instruments. Single soloists or accompanists are invited to attend as well.
Piano and brass teachers along with students in the Sheboygan area and the Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra are invited to attend either as a team or separately. The workshop is open to the public, including both musicians and non-musicians. Observers are always welcome.
We would like to invite you to attend Brandon and Rich’s performance with the Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, November 16th at 7:30 at the Weill Center. The father and son duo will be performing popular tunes from Gershwin to Beethoven to Sousa on piano and a number of different types of trumpets.
Brandon has performed with legendary artists such as Sting, James Taylor, and Marvin Hamlisch. A graduate of the Juilliard School, he has appeared frequently at Carnegie Hall. Rich Ridenour has built a grand career performing concerts ranging from classical masterworks to American ragtime, jazz and rock and roll. Rich has instructed piano at Aquinas College, Grand Valley State University, Calvin College and Western Michigan University and co-founded the Grand Rapids Musicians' League and several other programs for musically aspiring youth.
The Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra Guest Artist Master Class Series is a collaborative effort between the Sheboygan Symphony and Lakeland College. The class series, presented by many talented professionals performing with the SSO is free to the participating student and open to the public for observation.
